IMAGE OF A HOME
"HOME SWEET HOME"
AS A MEMBER OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY, you can ensure
that those having Homestead Exemption can experience some tax relief
by raising the exemption from $50,000 to $100,000.
As I am sure you are aware, the blind, seniors and the disabled who
qualify are all appreciative of their Homestead Exemption. Many of us
live in modest or moderate value residences.
We have…
1. seen high inflationary pressures in recent years.
2. increased medical and adaptive aids costs.
3. increased transportation needs.
4. seen our residence double in value which increases our tax burden
through reassessments.
5. then received increased milage rates
6. we don’t want to lose the home we worked so many years in to
order to live independently.
YOU ARE THE KEY TO PROPERTY TAX RELIEF FOR THOSE WHO NEED IT THE
MOST! HERE ARE THE 2 BILLS YOU SO THOUGHTFULLY SET FORTH TO PASS:
H3511, S 0223
A BILL TO AMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS BY AMENDING SECTION
12-37-250, RELATING TO THE HOMESTEAD PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION ALLOWED
FOR PERSONS WHO ARE OVER THE AGE OF SIXTY-FIVE YEARS, DISABLED, OR
LEGALLY BLIND, SO AS TO INCREASE THE EXEMPTION AMOUNT FROM THE FIRST
FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS TO THE FIRST ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS OF
THE FAIR MARKET VALUE OF THE HOMESTEAD; AND BY REPEALING SECTION
12-37-245 RELATING TO AN OBSOLETE REFERENCE TO THE HOMESTEAD
EXEMPTION.
A simply worded set of companion bills which will be greatly
appreciated by those of us who at times must make hard decisions about
medical needs, transportation, food and other necessary daily living
choices.
WE VOTE “DO PASS” TO GET THE BILL SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR IN 2026!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER.
