Dear Federation Family,

Due to Winter Storm Fern, which is forecasted to stretch across nearly 2,000 miles of the U.S. and create hazardous travel conditions, the South Carolina Affiliate has made the difficult but necessary decision not to send SC delegates to the 2026 Washington Seminar Week.

Current forecasts predict a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and snow across South Carolina. In the Washington, DC area—where Washington Seminar Week is held—heavy snowfall is expected and may linger for several days, creating unsafe travel conditions.

Out of an abundance of caution, our SC Affiliate President has decided that SC delegates will not travel as planned on Sunday, January 25, 2026, for the NFB Washington Seminar Week scheduled for January 26–29, 2026. Our Legislative Director, Janice Btight, fully supports this decision and will work to develop an alternative plan for SC delegates to safely meet with our Congressional representatives at some time after the storm Fern has cleared.

Thank you for your understanding as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our NFB of SC members.

Sincerely,

Janice Bright, MA OL
