If you did not get your 50 pack or if you need more, contact David Houck at 254-3777. The drawing is set for Saturday, January 5 at the Statewide Seminar. The winning ticket buyer will receive $300 and the seller will receive $100. The chapter selling the most tickets will receive $300 for their treasury. Let’s sell these tickets and be sure your filled out ticket stubs and money are turned in to David Houck at the Federation Center by January 5, 2019. Buy some for yourself and you might win $400. Let’s not let Columbia lose out on the $300 prize for the chapter treasury. These funds will help transportation efforts for those flying from Charlotte, NC to Las Vegas in getting to and from Charlotte and the Mandalay Bay Hotel. If you need information concerning flying to Las Vegas at a group rate, contact Tiffiny Mitchell at 603-2098.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>RENOVATIONS<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> The Federation Center has been undergoing renovations all year. Barry Chavis is doing a good job but he could use your volunteer assistance. Call the Center if you would like to help. Catherine Williams, Pat Cheatham, David Bundy Jennifer Bazer and others have already volunteered. There is still much to be done to complete our renovations. Rental of the Center will be very limited until renovations are completed.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>TASTE OF COLUMBNIA, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Interested in entering a dish? Be at the Federation Center at your table by 11:00 a.m. when tasting begins. Cost to enter a dish is $25. If you are running for re-election, are not running for re-election, or if you want to run for office, please contact the committee members to let them know of your intentions. The committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. in David Houck’s office on October 11.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>OCTOBER 27 STEP IT UP WALK<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> On Saturday, October 11, the Columbia Chapter will hold a Step It Up Walk at the Drew Wellness Center at 9:00 a.m. The cost to walk at least a mile is $20.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>NOVEMBER 10 FATZ PANCAKE BREAKFAST<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> On Saturday, November 10 from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. there will be a pancake breakfast at Fatz restaurant on Forest Drive in Columbia. The cost is $10 including pancakes and all the fixings. Tickets will be available soon.<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>SEPTEMBER 20 COLUMBIA CHAPTER MEETING<o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> President Tiffiny Mitchell gaveled the meeting to order at 6:15 p.m. Steve Cook welcomed everyone attending the meeting and monthly birthdays and visitors were recognized. Lenora Cooper visited for the first time as she is taking computer training from Jim Jackson. Darlene Houck gave the devotional on “Making Biscuits” or “God’s still working on me,” viewing God’s work, not in parts but as a whole. Isaiah Nelson prepared a delicious chicken dinner. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> NFB of SC President Frank Coppel encouraged everyone to attend Rocky Bottom the weekend of October 5-7. The camp belongs to all of us. He also encouraged members to work hard in selling their NFB Las Vegas convention $1 tickets and he wants to see as many as can to be there for the July 2019 convention, taking advantage of American Airlines’ low rates which Tiffiny Mitchell is working hard on. He also wants all of us to know our NFB pledge. Ed Bible spoke on his trip to the NFB National Center to attend their Leadership Seminar. It was quite a learning experience with many hours of intensive study. It was entitled the “Preventing Utter Disaster Seminar.” The Treasurer’s Report was deferred until October which will cover three months. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal> Jennifer Bazer won the 50/50 drawing of $42. A second drawing for a veggie slicer was won by Shannon Cook. Tiffiny Mitchell gave opportunity to voice concerns and complaints. President Mitchell wants us to remember to be quiet when someone is speaking from the head table. When it comes to elections, let’s not put others down. If you think you could do better, run for office! The book club will meet October 9 by conference call.
