Thursday morning, March 5, Shelley and I along with Carolyn Phillips, a member of the Columbia Chapter, visited the offices of the Bignon family Foundation and we were presented with a generous contribution in the amount of $5,000 to be used for the Rocky Bottom commercial kitchen fund. Shelley and I are also very thankful to have received $100 each from two of our church family members at Trinity Baptist Church. This brings our grand total in cash and pledges to $8,770. Thanks to everyone who has contributed thus far. Rates for this year’s convention are $115 per night for singles and doubles, and $125 per night for triples and quads. In addition to the room rates there will be a tax, which at present is 14 percent plus a 2.18 SC Destination Tourism Fee in effect at the time of check-out. The deadline to make reservations will be July 30, 2020. There will also be a limited number of rooms available for the $115 rate Thursday, August 20, for those individuals wanting to arrive to the hotel a day prior to the official start of the convention. Please make your reservations by calling toll free Marriott reservations at 800-228-9290 or you can call the North Charleston marriott at 843-747-1900. Inform the reservationist you are reserving a room for the National Federation of the Blind of South Carolina state convention. While this is the cut-off date for the NFB of SC room block, rooms will not last that long.
