He has been a free-lance journalist and adjunct professor at both the University of South Carolina and Columbia College Chicago. Calabrese previously served as senior vice president of public relations at The Chicago Lighthouse. He is credited for developing a comprehensive publicity program there from scratch and putting The Lighthouse on the media map.
