She scored 9.5 on beam, 9.4 on bars, 9.2 on vault (first place), and 9.0 on floor. She placed third overall and her gymnastics school placed second overall. Attending affiliate president meetings and trainings is helpful and important, but also means time away from my family at times. Speaking of the beam, it is a balancing act of president obligations and family responsibilities. I am proud of my daughter’s accomplishments. I often remind her, “The only person you are competing with is yourself. Don’t worry how others perform; it’s doing your very best, improving from the last competition that is important.” The last thing I told her before she left for her meet was, “Do the best you can.
