In the past, our state has had good representation, including a national level prize winner last year! To participate, just track what you’re reading in Braille and for how many minutes each day using the Beanstack database on your computer are smartphone. The number of minutes a participant reads is tracked with a database called Beanstack, which can be accessed either by a computer with the internet or a smartphone app. Registration opens on November 15, 2024. Minutes are counted from December 2, 2024-January 17, 2025 with national prize winners announced on March 2, 2025. Contests for both children and adults are divided into groups based on how proficiently you read Braille. The committee is working to come up with some state-level prizes for this year's contest as well, and of course, the districts will battle it out again to see which one will hold the bragging rights for reading the most minutes!
