National Federation of the Blind of Ohio-Cleveland Chapter Meeting

July 20, 2018

Let's celebrate The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which is one of
the most important enactments of our time. The Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA) became law in 1990. The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits
discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public
life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all public and private
places that are open to the general public. Without this law, persons with
disabilities would not have the right to participate in all aspects of life;
such as entering building that do not have ramps, no Braille on elevators or
printed materials in an alternative format.

What better way to celebrate the ADA, than having Michael J. Skindell, Ohio
State Senator to address our Chapter meeting. He will discuss NFB Ohio's
bills, HB: 271 and HB: 309. In addition, Ohio Affiliate President, Richard
Payne will also be present and Sheri Albers, Ohio Affiliate Legislative
Chair will chime in on our teleconference line. If you have not read HB:271;
please do to be up-to-date.

If you are unable to join us in person, call (216) 658-4532 to be part of
our meeting.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
