Thanks JW for updating us about the couple of notes from the SRC Quarterly
meeting.
It looks like all decisions are made without us participating/contributing
in the decision process. Are we looked at as part of the decision making?
If, not how can we be so? Sorry, I am new into this and may be asking
something already asked and worked on. Thinking loud! Help me please.
If our NFB of Ohio President, Mr. Richard Payne, agrees, it would be good
to swamp the respective offices with our emails and calls and raise our
questions and concerns.
Please keep us posted of any new developments regarding the two notes you've
mentioned and any ideas on how the NFB of Ohio be a part of the decision
making process.
Again, thanks a lot for all your time, energy and effort invested in
improving the lives of Blind Ohioans.
Have a nice day.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.

Subject: [Ohio-talk] Two Things from the SRC Meeting Today
Dear NFB of Ohio Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
Here are two things of note from the SRC quarterly meeting today.
1. Craig Dormer is now the director of BSVI which means he is no
longer acting as one! I did not have the opportunity today to convey to
Director Miller and others how important it would be to have input from the
blind and visually impaired community on such an important position. I will
make this clear when I get a chance, believe me! I do not know Mr. Dormer,
but as I find out more about him as it relates to his possible
administration of this position, I will communicate that to you.
2. It was mentioned in the BSVI report today that OOD will start to
embed counselors at the Ohio State School for the Blind and Deaf. There was
no mention of who that might be or how they might be selected or even how
and why this decision was made. These are questions that I will raise in the
future when appropriate, and you should too!
