Mike,
Thank you so much for a great and comprehensive reply! Two thumbs up!
I really liked the voting part in your reply and how we, NFB members are
all supposed to be registered to vote and ready to take action whenever
there is a need for that through the voting booths during primaries, general
or midterm elections. I strongly believe that registering to vote and voting
on the election day should be taken very seriously by all NFB members and
closely monitored!
Having said that, my advice to all NFB members is to make sure they are
registered to vote or plan ahead and register to vote as soon as possible
and be ready when the need arises!
Furthermore, it would be very helpful if all NFB members try their best to
know their state/federal representatives and senators, local officials,
mayors, etc. as well as their actions/decisions/feelings/ vis-a-vis NFB
philosophy, policies, programs and initiatives. I believe this will help a
lot in our plans/action plans when advocating to Improve the lives of
Ohioans.
Remember, One Team! One Goal!
Thanks.
Take care.
Ali

Subject: Re: [Ohio-talk] legislative Update
Good morning,
Earlier today Ali asked a question about when a yes is a definite yes. My
thoughts on this or the following. There is currently a request for
cosponsors that have been sent out to the members of the house, they can
sign on to the bill at any time. If they have insured a yes you can call
their office and ask if the representative still plans to cosponsor the
particular bill, With this in mind once I get the bill number out to you
guys please make plans to call your representatives. In this call again you
can ask for their commitment of support for the prescription drug reader
bill. As to holding them accountable your vote is that too. If a
representative is not supporting your request you have the right to not vote
for them in the next election cycle. This is why it is very important that
everyone in our organization registers to vote and they use the political
tool of their vote to ensure that we get members that support our cause.
This is not a request for you to vote for a particular party, we are a
non-political affiliated organization. Our membership does have some leaning
towards particular parties and members who have been in support of our
organization, but with this in mind remember it is your choice. Also please
remember to encourage your family to support our legislative action, and ask
them to make calls as well. Also make sure that your family members and
friends registered to vote and that they use this vote to support our
legislative action by supporting those members of the house who have offered
assistance by sponsoring our bills. I think it would be a great idea if
chapters organized voter registration events for their chapter members. Our
voice is our vote! The more support we can demonstrate to the members of the
house the more likely they will be to support our legislative issues. Please
take a moment to educate your friends and family about what you have been
doing and what the national Federation of the blind of Ohio is doing
