Good Evening Cleveland,
I trust all is well and I hope you are enjoying this great weather.
Well, it is time for our monthly Cleveland Chapter meeting.
We will meet on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at the
Cleveland Sight Center. The location is 1909 E 101st Street, Cleveland, Ohio
44106. If you are unable to attend, although we would be honored to have
your presence; the telephone number is (216) 658-4532.
Here are some announcements:
Cleveland, we are chartering a bus to the 2019 National Federation of the
Blind of Ohio State Convention; which will be held at the DoubleTree by
Hilton Hotel. The round trip cost to ride the bus is $65.00. The funds are
due next Friday at the Chapter meeting. Please bring your funds to give to
our Treasure, Natasha Ricks.
If you have not reserved your hotel room at the double Tree by Hilton Hotel
for the Convention, please do so at (614) 885-3334. I am so elated that
Cleveland has the largest reservations at the hotel to date. But, make your
booking so that you are not at the over flow hotel. The room rates are
$89.00 and it includes continental breakfast and Wi-Fi.
You can now register for the 2019 State of Ohio Convention. Click the link
to register for the banquet and the One Touch Self-Defense Classes as well.

Also, Cleveland will have a second Popcorn run; since some members did not
get the opportunity to participate, and outside persons are requesting more
of the products. We will have order forms for those who wish to have them at
the meeting next week.
As we wined down the 2019 fiscal year, our Recreation and Special Event
Chairs have a treat in store for us at the meeting. Bring your appetite and
wear your NFB gear; or bring your membership coins. Everyone who has them
will be put into a raffel for prizes. Note!. 2019 is the last year that we
end our business for the organization by September. Cleveland's fiscal year
will now start in January 2020 and end in December of each year.
The Gavel Report is due by October 1, 2019, so I will be taking information
of your community service and participation in the community, church and
more to add to the report. I am looking for a repeat by Cleveland to win the
Gavel again in November.
Cleveland will vote in new members and conduct their New Membership Seromony
next week; for the following:
Jeanette Foote
Ted Foote
Renee Arrington-Johnson
Alonzo Thorpe
Ronda Thorpe
Mya Thorpe
It is time for Cleveland's elections. The position of President, Vice
President, 2nd Vice President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer and two Board
Seats will be open in November. Evelyn Morrson-Eaddie has accepted to
become our Nominating Committee Chairperson. If you would like to submit
your name for nomination, please reach out to her by telephone or email.

Finally, there are several events that Cleveland will engage with in the
next few weeks. We need volunteers to assist. Please pay attention to the
23rd event; because this is one of our own and I need all members to attend
at Cleveland State. I need volunteers for multiple duties.

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want;
blindness is not what holds you back.
