The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.

Subject: [NFBOH-Cleveland] Diversity and Inclusion
Cleveland,
In 2018, our National Federation of the Blind National President, Mark Riccobono coined the 2018 National Convention as “INCLUSIVITY, DIVERSITY, AND SOCIAL CONDUCT”.
In keeping with his consciousness on Diversity and Inclusion, I am ensuring that we as a complete entity are informed about our historical makeup as members in the organization. Therefore, we will begin by celebrating Black History Month with featured stories from our local, state and national leaders.
So, I am emailing to present, and yet celebrate one of the most influential and dynamic months of 2019. We will also make an effort to highlight other important months in 2019 and its inclusiveness, such as, women, Vets, and others. As the President of the Cleveland Chapter, I am committed and dedicated to educate and provide my members with the National Federation of the blind philosophy, mission and historical content.
As most of you know, I have been promoting the two historical books in the organization, Walking Alone and Marching Together, as well as, Building The Lives We Want. If you have not read them, do so! Moreover, history is a passion of mine and I think that everyone should read about this organization that you pay dues to, advocate for, spend time in and other aspects of promoting it.
Therefore, I will feature two National Federation of the Blind local, state and or national leaders by email, ListServe and on Facebook during February. Each week, you will come familiar with them. Some you will know, but others you may not. Hopefully, you will have an opportunity to meet them in the future. However, I can assure you that there stories will be motivating and with humility.
So watch for their life changing edifications.
Suzanne
