"Theme Gardens for Pollinators"
by Denise Ellsworth, Program Director, Honey Bee and Native Pollinator Education

Gardens for pollinators can be just as unique as the individual
gardener. No matter
your passion, plants and features can be selected to create habitat
that benefits
pollinators. This session focuses on practical steps you can take to
create or enhance
habitat, including plant selection and simple design elements.
"Meet the Crucifers"
by Angela Bucciere and Eddie Stolarski, Wellness Consultants at Heinen's
Angela Bucciere and Eddie Stolarski will introduce various vegetables
from the diverse
and important cruciferous family and explain the myriad health
benefits of consuming
them daily. They also discuss creative ways to incorporate this unique
veggie family
into your diet and offer samples.

"Vacant Lot Becomes Canvas for Plant Dyes"
by Jessica Pinsky, Executive Director, Praxis Fiber Workshop
A vacant suburban lot in North Collinwood is blossoming into the Praxis Natural
Dye Garden, whose plants will produce natural dyes for use by artists
at the nearby
Praxis Fiber Workshop. Indigo is the main crop; madder, marigolds and
weld are also
grown in cooperation with the Cleveland Seed Bank.
"Rain Gardens"
by Amy Roskilly, Master Gardener Volunteer, Cuyahoga County and
Conservation Education
Program Manager, Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District
Rain gardens are attractive, landscaped areas planted with perennial
native plants
which don't mind getting 'wet feet.' They are beautiful gardens, built
in depressions,
which are designed to capture and filter stormwater runoff from
impervious surfaces
around the home, such as rooftops and driveways.

enjoy fresh flowers year round.
"Pruning 101 for Trees and Shrubs"
