It is time for the Master Gardener Breakfast Gardening Series !
We have three programs each with delicious breakfasts, two interesting
horticulture speakers, door prizes and a special plant to take home.
Tuesdays
March 5, April 2, and April 30, 2019
9:30 AM to 12:15 PM
This is our third year and we have a blending of new topics and also the
return of educators with outstanding reviews in the past.
There is something for everyone so Master Gardeners and community members
with an interest in gardening will find these programs something special as
they prepare  for gardening in 2019.

Each Individual Program is $17.00 each

by Denise Ellsworth, Program Director, Honey Bee and Native Pollinator
Education  Department of Entomology/Extension Gardens for pollinators can be
just as unique as the individual gardener. No matter your passion, plants
and features can be selected to create habitat that benefits pollinators.
This session focuses on practical steps you can take to create or enhance
habitat, including plant selection and simple design elements.
"Meet the Crucifers"
by Angela Bucciere and Eddie Stolarski, Wellness Consultants at Heinen's
Angela Bucciere and Eddie Stolarski will introduce various vegetables from
the diverse and important cruciferous family and explain the myriad health
benefits of consuming them daily. They also discuss creative ways to
incorporate this unique veggie family into your diet and offer samples.

"Vacant Lot Becomes Canvas for Plant Dyes"
by Jessica Pinsky, Executive Director, Praxis Fiber Workshop A vacant
suburban lot in North Collinwood is blossoming into the Praxis Natural Dye
Garden, whose plants will produce natural dyes for use by artists at the
nearby Praxis Fiber Workshop. Indigo is the main crop; madder, marigolds and
weld are also grown in cooperation with the Cleveland Seed Bank.
"Rain Gardens"
by Amy Roskilly, Master Gardener Volunteer, Cuyahoga County and Conservation
Education Program Manager, Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District Rain
gardens are attractive, landscaped areas planted with perennial native
plants which don't mind getting 'wet feet.' They are beautiful gardens,
built in depressions, which are designed to capture and filter stormwater
runoff from impervious surfaces around the home, such as rooftops and
driveways.

by Jacqueline Kowalski, Extension Educator, Agriculture and Natural
Resources, Summit County Cut flowers bring calm and joy to our lives. This
presentation will discuss variety selection, maintenance and harvest of
perennial cut gardens in order for you to enjoy fresh flowers year round.
"Pruning 101 for Trees and Shrubs"
by Dave Gilronan, Master Gardener Volunteer, Cuyahoga County Extension To
cut or not to cut? Even if you know little or nothing about pruning, this
session emphasizes the basics and will help you determine when, how, where
and why to prune.
