Chapter Meeting Minutes
all members, guests, visitors and are given below in these minutes. The
reason for having this meeting through zoom platform is to adhere to
COVID-19 social distancing adopted by the National Federation of the Blind
and the local and state officials.
Meeting began at 5:11 PM EST.
Welcome:
Joann Williams, Cheering Committee Chair
The National Federation of the Blind Pledge:
William Turner, First Vice President, helped all attendees to recite the
National Federation of the Blind Pledge.
National Pledge of Allegiance:
Mr. Jefferson, Military Retiree and member, helped all attendees to recite
the Pledge of Allegiance.

There were 32 in attendance.
Secretary Report:
Ali Benmerzouga, Recording Secretary, with the help of Suzanne Turner's
technology touch, presented the November 2021 minutes.
Cheryl Fields made the motion and Cecil Dukes second the motion.
Treasury Report:
Natassha Ricks, Treasurer, presented the financial reports for November2021.

Cheryl Fields made the motion and Henry Butler second the motion.
President Suzanne Turner Remarks:
1: National Convention
A: Dates, July 5 thru July 11, 2022
B: location, New Orleans LA
C: remarks: Hotel, Room Rate, Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship Fund and
Paratransit Transportation Fee
2: She explained that everyone should participate in the Washington Seminar.
3: She urged all to attend the Ohio State Board Meeting on January 28, 2022
on Zoom.
4: She inquired about holding a face-to-face meeting in March.
5: Suzanne provided information on ordering COVID Test that is being
administered by the Federal Government. For those who can not order on the
web, she gave the telephone number. It is: 800-232-0233.
Dr. Carolyn Peters who is the Chair of the Membership Committee spoke on the
meaning of membership in the National Federation of the Blind.
Gloria Conway who is the Treasurer of the Ohio Senior Division provided
information on the Division's Sharing Solution Monthly Meeting. This meeting
is on every third Sunday. In January, Suzanne Turner will present on Heart
Health. The meeting will be on Zoon at 7:00. She also invited and reminded
everyone about the business meeting that will be on February 6th on Zoom at
7:00 PM.
Colleen Roth and Susan Day from the Ohio Diabetic Action Network invited all
to attend their first meeting in 2022 on February 5, 2022 at 1:00 PM on
Zoom.
Fundraising:
There were three fundraising ideas presented.
Delcenia Brown introduced a Golf Fundraiser. Golfers would participate in an
18 whole tournament and be provided a continental breakfast, trophies and
more.
Wilber Turner introduced a drawing that would assist members to the National
Convention. The tickets would cost $10. The Chapter would receive 50 percent
and the other 50 percent would be divided into three prizes. The drawing
will begin in April and close on Father's Day at the Golfing Event.
Cheryl Fields introduced Tastefully Simple. This is a fundraiser that
provides seasonings, snacks, easy to make dishes and more. You would order
online, and part of the sales would be given to the Cleveland Chapter.
Shirly made the motion and Lisa Bostic second it. All three fundraisers
passed.
Recreational Activity:
Shirley Patterson gave an update on the location for the Cleveland Picnic.
It was identified as Brookside Metroparks. However, the Chapter would like
to have more options. Therefore, Shirley will investigate other avenues for
the August event.
