good afternoon Cleveland members and Friends,
I want to take this moment to thank everyone for attending the July meeting
and celebrating my birthday with cake. The cake was wonderful but being with
you was even more special.
I also want to apologize. For the chaos of moving from a different room. At
this time, we will not utilize the Martin Luthur King Jr. Library on Stokes
Boulevard until they officially move. Therefore, we will hold the September
meeting at the Memorial Knottingham Library. The address is 17109 Lakeshore
Blvd. This is where the Library for the Blind and Physical Handicap Library
is housed as well. The date will be September 14, 2024, and the time will be
from 2:30 to 4:30 PM EDT.
I have a couple of announcements, and if you would like you can take notes
to keep aware of the happening events.
Please read throughout to its entirety!
First, on this coming Sunday, I will hold a leadership training on, "High
Standards:! Everything that you do personally and professionally, you should
do with high standards! This training will be on Sunday, August 4th at 5:00
PM EDT. I hope to see you in the Ohio zoom hall.

or call: 669-900-6833, code: 6699006833
Secondly, on August 9, which is a Friday at 4 PM, we will host our annual
picnic. We will gather at the Brookside Park pavilion, location: 3600 John
Nagy Blvd. Please note, when you make your Paratransit transportation, have
the scheduler put in the memo to drop you off at 4:00 PM at the pavilion. It
will be in the back with a sign that says, "NFB Cleveland." Make sure that
the driver comes in the back to that pavilion. Dinner will be served between
five until 7 PM. If you are bringing a guest, you must alert me prior. Last
year we had many people show up who were not members. If they're going to
join the chapter, have them give Natasha, Theresa, or me a call first.
Finally, many members have not called me to add to the menu , please call,
email, or text me. Your pick-up should be no later than between 8:30 and
9:00 PM.
We would like to extend an invitation to Cuyahoga and Greater Akron to
attend our picnic, as well as members from the surrounding areas. Just give
us a heads up if you will attend.
The National Federation Of The Blind Of Ohio Convention will be held at the
Doubletree by Hilton Cleveland Westlake Hotel, 1100 Crocker Rd., Westlake,
OH 44145. The dates are November 14 through November 17. Please make your
reservations at the hotel. No funds will be deducted until you check in. The
room rate is $105 including breakfast for two. Call (800) 445-8667
And make your reservations.
Click on this video to learn more about the convention. We were filmed by
channel 23 in Cleveland in 2018.

Finally, The National Federation Of The Blind Of Ohio board meeting will be
on September 21, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have secured transportation
for 12 people to go down for the board meeting. If you would like to go to
the board meeting, it will be first come first serve. The deadline to submit
your name is September 14th. This is also the day that we will hold our
Cleveland chapter meeting for September, because the board meeting will fall
on our meeting date. I will have the cost by the date of the picnic.
Also, I am requesting suggestions for the "Blind Equality Achievement Month"
for October. We want to get out in the community and provide awareness! I do
have suggestions, but I would like to hear from you. So, please share your
ideas.
That is all right now!
