Theresa McKenney made the motion to accept the treasury report and Marion
Parker second. It carried.
Secretary Report: President, Suzanne Turner. Asked for a motion to postpone
the January minutes, due to the Secretary not being present.
Marian Parker made the motion and Harold Jefferson second the motion. It
carried.
President's Remarks:
A: Suzanne Turner introduced two speakers. Gary and Debbie Wunder, who
presented on the National DAN Conference Diabetes Action Network will be
held on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, 2024. We'll be meeting at
the Hilton St. Louis Airport located at 10330 Natural Bridge Rd, St. Louis,
MO 63134, and,
Janie Degenshein, Board Member and Coordinator of the Senior Retreat,
February 11th through 17th, 2024. It is located, Anywhere and Everywhere
that focuses on promoting a sense of wellbeing and self-confidence despite
living with newly acquired vision loss. The requirements are to be 50 or
older, blind, and open to a strong desire to learn nonvisual techniques. The
cost is $50 per attendee. Money must be received by February 3, 2024.
Payment can be made by check, PayPal or Zelle. PayPal accepts credit cards
and debit cards. Checks should be made payable to NFB Seniors Division with
2024 Seniors Retreat in the memo, and sent to:

To pay using PayPal, complete the online registration form and then click on
the PayPal button found on the form's confirmation page. You can pay via
PayPal by using a credit card, debit card, or PayPal account.
If you prefer to make an instant payment using Zelle, you may do so by
choosing to send money and adding NFB Senior Division as a recipient. When
asked whether you want to add a mobile number or email address to send,
choose mobile and use 979-583-6343 as the number for the recipient.

B: Fundraisers
1: Shoe Drive and Storage
The Cleveland Chapter will gather shoes for a fundraiser. It will start
mid-January and end the first week in March.
2: Gospel and Praise Fest
The fest will be on April 6, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. We are seeking
praise and gospel performers. There will be NFB literature available as
well. The location is 1909 E. 101 Street, Cleveland 44106.
3: Bus Trip to the Grandpa Cheese Barn
The Barons bus company would like a Deposit of $500, and the full amount is
$2133. It is a 56-passenger bus. The Chapter has a $250 deposit that can be
used for the trip.
The second bus company, A1 Mr. Limo, is charging $1835 for a 24-passenger
bus.
However, the Chapter agree to seek service from JKL Tours, who will charge
$50 per person and rent the bus for the trip. They will also secure a
restaurant for the attendees. President, Suzanne will investigate and
provide the Chapter the details.
C:
Tomeika Hurt provided her experience on being a blind model. She was
encouraged by her daughter to join her modeling. Tomeka says she enjoys it
and shows how a blind model is accepted and can "live the lives they want".
D:
Wilbert Turner provided an account of the Washington Seminar that is January
29th through February 1st. There are three legislative initiatives,
1: the Websites and Software Applications Accessibility Act (H.R. 5813/S.
2984),
2: the Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act (H.R. 1328) and S.3621,and
3: the Blind Americans Return to Work Act.
Suzanne Turner, Theresa McKenney, Wilbert Turner, and Marion Parker will
represent Ohio.
E:
Renee ArringtonJohnson, provided her experience on
Seeing-AI abilities. She uses the app, and it has an AI feature and a group
feature. She also spoke about using app when you attend monuments, parks,
and tourist attractions for audio-description.
F: Marion Parker reminded the Chapter about an audio-described movie
featuring a blind actress, that is airing tonight. He says that it is a
four-part series.
The meeting adjourned at 649 PM EST.
