Good Noon Day, Cleveland,

I hope you get out today and enjoy the weather. Spring is here and sinuses are being affected. Take care of yourself and get ready for work.

Read this through to its entirety and share with members not on email.

Please continue to keep members in your prayers that we have not been connected with, due to illness or bereavement. Give them a call.

Congratulations goes to Tomeika Hurt who walked the walk in a fashion show last Saturday. She modeled in three segments alone and with her daughter. Yes, she had her white cane. It was a proud moment for Cleveland and the NFB.

Today at 5:00 PM. NFB and OOD will have a joint meeting. Please come into the zoom room early. Be advised that the team cannot answer personal questions publicly. However, there will be Q/A.

Good news, our Poppin Pop Corn fundraiser is on its way. I checked the portal, and we have sold over $300 worth of goodies since the 1st. There are a variety of popcorn, cookies, candy and other treats online. Please share the link, add it to your face book account, Instagram and twitter pages. Let’s earn money to help Cleveland do our work for 2025. The Delta Auxiliary ladies have developed two flyers. The NFB logo along with theirs will be distributed across the country. Shopping begins from April 1st through April 15th.

Copy or click on the link and enjoy yourself with a 🍪 and a 🍫!

Chacity and I had an opportunity to attend their meeting last Saturday and it was highly informative. We will share more at the meeting.

Wilbert Turner and I have facilitated the trip to DC. We will leave on Saturday, September 13th and return on the 15th. I emailed the flyer and will add it on our Facebook page. It is open to anyone who would like to attend. We will attend the DC Chapter meeting that Saturday, Sunday, venture to the various museum’s iconic landmarks like the Lincoln, Jefferson and MLK Memorials and on Monday, visit the Library of Congress. I am working out for a tour of the Jernigan Institute as well.

To secure a seat on the bus is $150 round trip. The hotel stay is $109 per night. You can pay over the four months by mailing payments for the bus to Natassha Ricks, 6980 Ladd Lane, Maple Heights, Ohio 44137. In the memo provide name and DC trip. You can also zelle: NFB.CLE.Treasurer at gmail.com <mailto:NFB.CLE.Treasurer at gmail.com> by August 10th. Payments can be made. If the trip is canceled, all refunds will be provided. Otherwise, there are no refunds for the deposit of a seat, because we have to pay for the coach. We will reside at Fort Mead Courtyard by Marriott, 2700 Hercules Road, Annapolis Junction, Maryland 20701. Make reservations by calling (301) 498-8400. The bock name is “National Federation of the Blind of Cleveland.”

Hey Cleveland, get ready for “Lost My Vision, But Not My Sight” Production. 8 Cleveland members will be performing a monolog in May. We are inviting the public. This production is sure to provide awareness on blindness, enlightening and wowing the audience. We will have an information table with literature, ask for a $5 donation and refreshments. Stay tuned for more details and spread the news.

The time is winding down to apply for the Kenneth Jernigan Scholarship. April 15 is around the corner. So, if you are a first timer and want to apply, reach out to me.

The National Convention is in July, I have heard from only a few members who will attend. If you wish to go to New Orleans, July 8th to the 13th, you should call and make your reservation as soon as possible.

To book your room for the 2025 Convention, call 888-236-2427 for the Marriott or 855-516-1090 for the Sheraton. For each room, the price is $109 per night for doubles and singles.

Preregistration is open for the National Convention as well. The fee is $30.00 and the banquet is $95.00. You can go online to preregister at NFB.ORG/Convention.

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
