Cleveland Members,
What a great 79th State of Ohio Convention.
>From the Warrensville High School performances to the Ohio Board elections,
everything was electric.
Pam and Roland Allen seem to have enjoyed themselves tremendously. I trust
her report to President; Riccobono will be a good account .
Congratulations are in order to William Turner, who was reelected to the
Ohio Board of Directors.
I want to thank everyone for stepping up to assist during the convention. As
I stated, we do not need an award to be great. Cleveland Rocks!
Delcenia, Renee, Wilbert, Tomeika, Marion, Antonio and Stats, either
participated or led seminars that were impactful. Thank you for your
service.
Chacity, Danielle and Lorain served at the Exhibit Table for Cleveland. You
are equally a great contributor to the convention.
Cleveland, we will hold our November Chapter meeting on Saturday, November
22, 2025 from 3:30PM to 5:00PM EST. We will meet at the Garfield Heights
Library located at, 5409 Turney Road, room B. Please bring a guest.
As we move into the year of 2026, there are a few reminders.
1. Chapter dues are now due. They are $15 for 2026. Please bring them
to the November meeting or zelle them to NFB.CLE.Treasurer at Gmail.com
<mailto:NFB.CLE.Treasurer at Gmail.com>
2. President, Payne will soon send out several email seeking members to
attend the Washington Seminar and inquire about appointing members to Ohio
Committees. If you would like to serve on a committee, when he sends that
information out, respond. The same for the Washington Seminar.
3. The information on the National Convention usually is distributed in
December. The convention will be held in Austin Texas from July 3rd to July
8th 2026. You should start planning now if you wish to attend.
4. For new members who wish to attend the National Convention, the Kenneth
Jernigan Scholarship Fund application will be released in January. Please
continue to read your emails on how to apply.
5. One of the Ohio State Fundraisers is the Bowling event that was held at
the convention. If you would still like to pledge to assist with growing the
Ohio treasury, Wilber Turner was our Chapter representative. You can pledge
as low as 25 cents per pin that he knocked down. He bowled 106. Therefor
multiply that that times your pledge. You can send your funds to the Ohio
Treasurer, Kathy Legg at Treasurer at NFBOhio.ORG. Please put in the memo
bowling event pledge.
6. Cleveland has two fundraisers at this time. The Valentine and the
tumblers. As every year, I appoint members to committees as President, Payne
does at the state level. Antonio and Tomeika are the 2026 Cleveland
Fundraising Co-Chairs. They will be responsible for distributing information
and keeping accounting; as our treasurer, Natassha will make necessary
deposits. Of the three of them, I am sure we will have great results.
7. Our Christmas party will be on December 13th. We will learn more during
the meeting.
I will see you all next week!

Ohio Legislative Director
Cleveland Chapter, President
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
