Good Morning, Cleveland Members and Friends,

I trust you are well!

I want to urge all to keep Wilbert Turner in your prayers and good thoughts
as he goes through the healing process.

June is here, and we are moving quickly toward the National Convention in
Austin, Texas! So, those who are attending in-person, I will review the
national agenda so that you will have your itinerary created prior to your
arrival. Look out for a zoom meeting invite.

Virtual Experience at the National Convention

Details:

For members who will not be attending the National Convention in person,
please consider signing up for the virtual convention experience. This
option allows you to attend the Board and Resolutions Meetings, General
Sessions, and the Banquet. You can register at NFB.org/convention. The fee
is only $10, and all virtual attendees will be entered into a drawing for
door prizes.

2026 Leadership Seminar

Details:

Thank you to all Cleveland members who were selected to attend the 2026
Leadership Seminar. We learned a great deal about the organization, enhanced
our personal and professional growth, enjoyed wonderful fellowship, and had
the opportunity to meet members we had only previously known through Zoom or
conference calls. Hearing voices virtually is simply not the same as meeting
in person, and it was a pleasure to connect with everyone face-to-face.

June Chapter Meeting

Details:

Our June Cleveland Chapter meeting will be held in person on Friday, June
20, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library,
located at 10601 Euclid Avenue. Please arrive on time, as we will be working
on our monologue production promptly at 12:30. We will also conduct a brief
chapter meeting.

Traveling to Dayton by Chartered Coach

Details:

The bus trip to Dayton for the 80th Ohio State Convention is filling up
rapidly. We have nearly reached our goal of 40 travelers. If you are still
planning to attend, please submit your payments as soon as possible.
Installment payments are still being accepted. The final deadline to
complete your $120 payment is September 19, 2026, at the Martin Luther King
Jr. Library.

80th Ohio State Convention

Details:

The Ohio State Convention is a wonderful opportunity to fellowship with
members from across the state, learn about new technology, participate in
educational seminars, and attend the banquet, which helps provide
scholarships for blind students and supports other important programs. We
strongly encourage everyone to consider attending.

You may begin making your hotel reservations now at the University of Dayton
Marriott Hotel. To reserve a room, call 1-800-627-7468. The room rate is
$129 per night plus 16.5% tax. Consider sharing a room with another member
to help reduce costs.

The Cleveland Chapter will travel to Dayton on November 5 and return on
November 8. The convention pre-registration portal should be available soon,
so please stay tuned for additional information.

One final note regarding the Ohio State Convention: the Cleveland Chapter
will be discussing auction items and door prizes for the convention. Please
come to our June meeting with ideas for a basket or other item that could be
donated for the banquet auction.

Advocate for phasing out subminimum Wage

Details:

Hello advocates,

There is a lot happening right now with Medicaid hearings and the potential
impact on services. In the middle of all of this, we have one urgent action
that cannot wait.

This is our last chance until fall and the committee schedule goes out
tomorrow.

We need to make calls today.

Please call Rep. Johnson's office at 614-644-7928 and request that he place
HB 225, the bill to phase out subminimum wage, on next week's Commerce &
Labor Committee agenda for a vote.

You do not need to have a disability or a family member with a disability to
make this call. This is a community effort. Everyone's voice counts.

If no one answers, leave a voicemail. 

Suggested message:

"I am requesting that you schedule HB 225, the bill to phase out subminimum
wage, for next week's committee meeting agenda for a vote."

Your action is making a real impact.
