Dear Friends of Cleveland Sight Center,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am sharing that Larry Benders has announced his plans to retire as President and CEO of Cleveland Sight Center effective December 31, 2026, following more than 11 years of exceptional leadership.

Since joining CSC in 2015, Larry has helped guide a remarkable period of growth and impact for the organization. Under his leadership, Cleveland Sight Center has expanded its team and services, nearly doubled its operating budget, significantly increased its endowment, secured transformational philanthropic investments and strengthened CSC’s reputation as a leading organization serving individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

He also led important statewide advocacy efforts, successfully advocating for White Canes to be classified as durable medical equipment covered by Medicaid in Ohio, the first and only state in the nation to do so.

The Board of Directors has been thoughtfully preparing for this transition and will soon launch a formal search process to identify CSC’s next President and CEO. Larry will continue serving in his role throughout the transition and has committed to supporting a seamless leadership handoff to ensure continued momentum and stability for the organization.

Cleveland Sight Center’s future is exceptionally bright. Because of the strong foundation Larry and our dedicated staff have built together, CSC is well positioned to continue advancing its mission and expanding its impact in the years ahead.

We are deeply grateful for Larry’s leadership and lasting contributions to Cleveland Sight Center and look forward to celebrating his legacy in the months ahead.
