Dear NOBBL Family and Federation Friends,

 

Mother’s Day may have passed, but this month still gives many of us a chance to reflect on the people who helped shape us into who we are.

 

Mothers often pass down way more than traditions or family stories. They pass down so much that can influence generations to come.

 

Recently, while reading an article in the May 2026 edition of the Braille Monitor, we were moved by a phrase used by our featured guest for the month of May, Latonya Phipps Cross:

 

✨ “Generational Federationism” ✨

 

As Ms. Phipps Cross reflected on motherhood, blindness, advocacy, and Federation philosophy, she described how positive Blindness values and expectations can be intentionally passed from one generation to the next.

 

That phrase inspired this month’s NOBBL Elected Leaders Group conversation:

 

“Generational Federationism: Building Legacy Beyond Limitations”
