Holiday greetings Federation Family,
I wanted to share this reading by Dr. Jernigan as it is timely for the
season. A fellow leader in the Federation, Joe Ruffalo, President of the New
Jersey Affiliate shared this with me. I hope you enjoy it as much as I
have.

May you each spend quality, memory making time with family and friends as we
move into the last few days of 2016. I encourage each of you to exuberantly
continue or rekindle your membership in the National Federation of the Blind
of Oklahoma in the new year and beyond as we move towards real, lasting
change for all blind people. Go to your local Chapter meeting, come to our
Oklahoma State Convention. Be a part of something larger than yourself. Our
2017 NFBOK State convention is scheduled for April 7-9 in Oklahoma City.
More details will be available on our website in the next week or so. Our
national convention schedule has shifted a bit for next year. We will
convene in Orlando, Florida from July 10-15. I hope to see you there as
well.
I would like to share two speeches from leaders in the Federation who have
been mentors to me and countless others in their work with and for the
National Federation of the Blind. President Mark Riccobono and immediate
past President, Dr. Marc Maurer inspire, challenge and motivate me to be a
better person, Federationist and leader. Over the years they have become
friends. I hope you take an opportunity to get to know them. Take an
opportunity to get to know me, the board and members of the NFBOK and to
learn about the National Federation of the Blind.

Live the life you want!
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day, we raise
expectations of the blind because low expectations create obstacles between
blind people and our dreams. Blindness is not what holds you back. You can
live the life you want.!.
