Good afternoon, Federation family!

The 2016 National Federation of the Blind convention is scheduled to be
held from June 30th thru July 5th at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in
Orlando, Florida. If you are attending, please let me know as our affiliate
typically holds a caucus to review the Resolutions, which once passed
through the Resolutions Committee, will be presented to and voted on BY the
Membership in General Session. Additionally, details of the convention and
our banquet ticket exchange will be covered as well. We do not yet have our
schedule for the caucus. However, I will be sure to let everyone know when I
receive that information. The agenda is now available online at
https://nfb.org/convention

Also, for those of you who are not able to attend this year's convention,
the Resolutions Committee meeting, Board of Directors meeting, General
Sessions and the Banquet will be streaming live. Once information about the
link to listen in on the convention is available, I will send that out as
well.

If you are attending, we need your help! This year our affiliate is
co-hosting the convention along with Louisiana, New Hampshire and Utah
Affiliates. Our responsibilities are primarily associated with the
Information Desk, the Hospitality Suite, and the opening ceremony. We are
asking each Federationist attending to volunteer in the Hospitality Suite or
at the Information Desk and one session at our table in the Exhibit Hall.
Many of you have likely received a schedule to work at the Independence
Market as well. Mrs. Maurer has agreed to let us work one of the scheduled
times in order for us to schedule ourselves in these other capacities and
enjoy convention as well! Please e-mail the Community Relations team and let
them know which session you will be working at the Independence Market.
Schedules with available time slots for the Oklahoma Affiliate Exhibit Hall
table, the Hospitality Suite and information Desk are forthcoming. Stay
tuned!

If you are considering attending convention next year, invest in one or more
Kenneth Jernigan Raffle tickets. The winner receives round trip air,
registration and banquet tickets for 2 along with $1,000 in spending money.
Wait! That's not all! You will also receive a hotel stay at whichever Rosen
property we will be at for the entirety of the convention. Tickets are $10
and the funds go to support the Kenneth Jernigan Convention Scholarship
fund. The fund provides many first timers means to attend their first
convention. Over the years, many of our own affiliate members have received
KJ Convention Scholarships. If you are interested in purchasing tickets
for $10, call or e-mail me at the information below.

Have a wonderful rest of your week and weekend!

Warmly,

Jeannie

The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day, we raise
expectations of the blind because low expectations create obstacles between
blind people and our dreams. Blindness is not what holds you back. You can
live the life you want.!.

"Whatever you dare to dream, begin." - Goethe
