Thank you for being part of the Be My Eyes community

Be My Eyes has grown to become the largest global online community for the blind and visually impaired. The app is now used in 140 countries, with more than 32,000 blind and visually impaired individuals being assisted by more than 450,000 sighted helpers. Every day, volunteers lend their eyes to solve challenges both big and small in the lives of the blind and visually impaired.
We are constantly working to improve Be My Eyes and create a better user experience for people utilizing the app. Due to the size of our amazing volunteer network and sophisticated matching technology, the app now enables our blind and visually impaired users to request assistance in their native language 24 hours a day. We have also managed to significantly reduce the time that it takes to connect to a helper. We sincerely appreciate your feedback, as it is invaluable to Be My Eyes' continued improvement.

In order to have the best experience possible with Be My Eyes, please remember to update the app to its latest version.

How can you use Be My Eyes?

People are always coming up with creative ways to use Be My Eyes. In the audio clip below, you can hear some anecdotes from Be My Eyes users about their experiences with the app.

The Holman Prize for Blind Ambition

This month, our friends at the LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired in San Francisco announced The Holman Prize for Blind Ambition – an annual set of awards up to $25,000 to fund the dreams and ambitions of blind individuals worldwide.

Open to anyone in the world who is 18 or older and can provide official proof of blindness, the Holman Prize funds travel, activism, scholarship, craft, sport, art, nature and much more — you are encouraged to think outside the box. They’re looking for intrepid travelers, creative problem solvers, effective communicators, natural ambassadors, passionate advocates, joyful builders, active boundary-pushers and experience seekers.

If you’re a blind person with a penchant for exploration, The Holman Prize is your chance to shape your own future instead of having it laid out for you. Start by creating a 90-second YouTube video to tell the world about your dream, give it a catchy title and tag it #HolmanPrize. Finally, visit holmanprize.org to submit your formal application.

Visit the Holman Prize website to read specific guidelines, watch the other video pitches and apply for the chance to embark on the adventure of your lifetime.
