[NFBp-Berks] NFB of PA Greater Berks Chapter - September 2026 meeting canceled

Dear Members, Friends, and Allies,

I'm writing with an important update regarding our September meeting, along
with upcoming Greater Berks Chapter, community, and NFB of Pennsylvania
events.

September Meeting Cancellation

The Greater Berks Chapter meeting scheduled for Saturday, September 19,
2026, at 10:00 AM Eastern Time has been canceled. Several members are unable
to attend due to prior commitments. Given the number who will be
unavailable, the board of directors has decided not to hold our September
meeting. We appreciate those who notified us in advance and look forward to
reconnecting in October.

Berks Cultural Diversity Festival - September 26

Our chapter will have an outreach table at the 2026 Berks Cultural Diversity
Festival, presented by Bring the Change.

*	Time: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
*	Location: Reading City Park Bandshell, 11th and Washington Streets,
Reading, PA

While the festival officially runs until 6:00 PM, activity generally begins
slowing down around 4:00 to 4:30 PM.

This is a great opportunity to connect with the Greater Berks community,
share resources, and introduce others to the National Federation of the
Blind and our chapter. Members are encouraged to stop by or help at our
outreach table.

Next Chapter Meeting - October 17

Please mark your calendar for our next Greater Berks Chapter meeting:

Reading Hospital Road Run/Walk - October 18

The 2026 Reading Hospital Road Run/Walk will take place on Sunday, October
18, 2026, in West Reading. Hosted by The Friends of Reading Hospital, the
event supports Tower Health Reading Hospital.

*	Registration: $35 plus processing fee through September 21
*	Beginning September 22: $45 plus processing fee

1 Mile Fun Walk/Run

*	Start Time: 10:30 AM
*	Registration: $10 plus processing fee through October 17
*	Race Day: $15 plus processing fee

NFB of Pennsylvania State Convention - November 5-8

The 2026 National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania State Convention
will take place Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, 2026, at
the Hershey Lodge, 325 University Drive, Hershey, PA 17033. Join
Federationists from across Pennsylvania for educational sessions, advocacy,
exhibits, networking, fellowship, and more.

Convention Registration

Alla carte registration is now open, allowing attendees to register for the
convention and select individual meals. Those planning to participate in
convention meals are encouraged to register in advance.

Hershey Lodge Reservations

A special convention room block is available for $149 per night, plus
applicable taxes and fees, for stays from November 4 through November 9,
2026.

Join the Greater Berks Chapter

Are you blind, low vision, DeafBlind, or a sighted ally interested in
advocacy, resources, and community? Do you live, work, or go to school in
the Greater Berks area?

Our chapter brings people together to share resources and experiences,
advocate for equal opportunity and independence, and strengthen our
community. Meetings are open to everyone.

In the spirit of Come One, Bring One, invite someone who may be interested
in learning more about the NFB and our chapter.

Membership Dues - 2026 and 2027

Annual Greater Berks Chapter dues are $10 per person per calendar year.

We are currently accepting 2026 dues. Beginning in October, we will also
begin collecting 2027 dues, allowing members to pay early and keep their
membership current for the new year.

Potential new members are welcome to attend a couple of meetings before
deciding whether to join as a dues-paying member. There is no obligation to
pay dues right away.

Dues-paying members may vote, make motions, and hold office, and dues help
support chapter advocacy, outreach, and activities.
