Dear Members and Friends,
The Greater Philadelphia Chapter recently held their elections Saturday,
October 25, 2025 and I am honored to share that I have been elected as the
new Chapter President. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to serve and
continue building upon the strong foundation of advocacy, unity, and
empowerment within our chapter.
I would like to extend my deepest appreciation to our former President,
Denice Brown, for her 22 years of hard work, leadership, and dedication.
Denice has been a remarkable advocate and a true example of what it means
to serve with passion and commitment. We are deeply thankful for her many
years of service and for the positive impact she has made in our community.
A little about me — I lost my sight in 2016 as a result of domestic
violence while I was two months pregnant. My journey since then has been
one of growth, resilience, and faith. I joined the National Federation of
the Blind in August 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, and quickly found a
community that shared my passion for advocacy and empowerment. During the
last term, I served as the 1st Vice President of our chapter. Today, I am
proud to continue serving in leadership — not only as President of the
Greater Philadelphia Chapter, but also as President of the Pennsylvania
Organization of Blind Parents and as one of the Board Directors for the
National Federation of the Blind of Pennsylvania.
I am also pleased to announce the rest of our newly elected board members:
• Marva Hall, First Vice President
• Gloria Nathan-Cherry, Second Vice President
• Casshia Cooks-Copeland, Secretary
• Eugenio D’Oliveira, Treasurer
• Anissa Brown, Board Director
• James Robinson, Board Director
We also recognize our continuing board members, elected last year:
• Christine Palmer, Board Director
• Katrina Townes, Board Director
Together, we look forward to working with all of you to strengthen our
chapter, support our members, and continue advancing the mission of the
National Federation of the Blind.
Thank you all for your continued support and belief in our work.
Stacie Leap

The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and
all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the
characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the
expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles
between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination,
and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
