Jigsaw Chapter Meeting Minutes

Saturday, June 4, 2022

The meeting was called to order at 10:05 am, by President, Dave Miller.  

Present were 8 members:  President Dave Miller,  Vice President Chris Westbrook, Secretary, Alta St. Louis, Christine Callahan, Brian Mackey, Frank Beam, Tom Brown, Preston Gaylor.

 

ROUND TABLE

Dave mentioned nothing to report.

Chris mentioned doing programming on the side, not a lot going on.

Alta mentioned she is traveling to Las Vegas, shared a travel tip with the group, if a member has para-transit they can transfer to the visiting county and get para-transit status in that state.  You are given 21 days to use and it expires in one year of receiving the visitor’s status.

Christine mentioned it is getting warm outside, nothing going on.

Frank mentioned nothing to report, everything the same.

Tom mentioned nothing to report, currently suffering from allergies.

Preston stated doing well, pretty busy summer, with the Lion Club and volunteering at the library.

Brian stated things are good, raffle went well and members should look for emails regarding convention.

 

 OLD BUSINESS

Dave stated National Convention is July 5 thru 10, registration is now closed.  Members can register at the door for an additional $5, for a total of registration $30 and banquet $75.

Online virtual experience will be offered for free, members can register.  Virtual events such as Board Meeting, General Session and Banquet will be streamlined.

State Convention will be November 10 thru 13, at the Sheraton Station Square, registration is not yet available however, members can reserve hotel room.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Dave mentioned next meeting is July 2nd which is a holiday weekend.  Dave asked each member should we cancel July meeting, each member stated to cancel.

July meeting is canceled, next meeting will be in August.

 

PRESIDENTIAL RELEASE

Members listened to the Presidential Release.

President Mark Riccobono delivers presidential release #517 before a live virtual audience. He provides perspective and updates regarding upcoming strategic planning and constitutional amendments of the National Federation of the Blind, our advocacy and policy efforts, request for NFB Code of Conduct feedback, and National Convention. President Riccobono also shares Federation Family news and the customary endings.

 

Dave mentioned Happy 4th of July!

Next Meeting, Saturday, August 6, at 10:00 am.
