Hey there, PA Federation Family,
I hope we have beautiful weather next week as we travel to Hershey, like
we have today. I am headed to NYC later today for Laugh for Sight 2026
at the Gotham Comedy Club and dinner with Jane beforehand.
I found out this morning that Costco is donating a gift card for our
convention. There is a catch, though. We cannot use it for a raffle or
door prize. Eliz and I will get creative with how we use it. Maybe we'll
buy four of those delicious, freshly roasted whole chickens. They should
fit in my suitcase. What do you think?
We're just 10 days away from the National Federation of the Blind of
Pennsylvania State Convention at Hershey Lodge! This week's Federation
Focus [1] covers three upcoming meetings: the Seniors Division on
Wednesday, October 28; the final convention planning meeting on
Thursday, October 29; and the Pennsylvania Association of Blind
Students' convention soirée on Sunday, November 1.
I also preview November 5-8 in Hershey, from Thursday's tech seminar and
Federation Feud to Friday's auction and student seminar, Saturday's
general sessions and banquet, and Sunday's business meeting. Plus, hear
about ice cream with national representative Everette Bacon, a Hershey's
Kisses fundraiser, and how to volunteer for our Philadelphia Marathon
Weekend outreach on November 20-21 or support our 8K participants.

Marathon Volunteers Needed
We need volunteers for our outreach table in the convention center on
Friday, November 20, from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday, November 21,
from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Shift times will be about three hours. We also
need volunteers for all three races. We will have a specific area along
the race routes to cheer runners on. Races are Saturday and Sunday. We
have not been assigned our location yet. If you can help, email David
