Minutes for the month of February, 2020

Meeting comes to order at 11:30 a.m.
Bryan starts with the presidential release.
Bryan gave the treasurers report.
Amelia read the secretary’s report
The chapter would like to welcome a new member, Jose Suarez, as well
as Trent Colbert, Vice President paratransit operations.
Today, the chapter will hold a presentation by Sylvia Castillo,
manager of paratransit operations, in order to discuss paratransit
service with members, so that the NFB can collectively assist via
trans with suggestions to improve its service for visually impaired
clients.

In her discussion, Sylvia indicates that members of the Chapter can
call the reservation line and opt into receiving text-messages when
their vehicle is close by, in loo of the automated phone calls.
Due to some concerns regarding the accessibility of the via trans
website to make reservations, she also invited Amelia and Wendy from
the chapter to come in and show an IT service person where we are
having difficulties scheduling reservations with jaws.
Sylvia also indicated that clients can call 210-362-2140 and ask
someone with accessible services to opt into receiving mailings in
electronic format instead of paper documents.
Lastly, Sylvia informs us that clients who have not received they’re
via trans ID can schedule an appointment ahead of time to do this
without a written invitation in the mail. This would lighten their
workload at the San Pedro transit center, even if the old card has not
yet expired. The trip to get this accomplished will be no charge to
the client. The discussion had to wrap up, but if members have any
