For those applying for one of the five $100 stipends our chapter is
distributing for the NFB national convention in July, please read
carefully for the requirements.
Deadline to apply: May 15th by 5PM.
Once you apply I will email you confirmation that I received your
information and that your application is complete. If you do not get a
confirmation email it is not considered complete and it is up to you
to make sure I did receive all requested information.
1. You must be a dues paying member in good standing that has been
active in the chapter by attending meetings and chapter activities.
2. Priority will be given to those who have not attended an in person
NFB national convention before.
3. Your application is not complete until I receive, by email, a
forwarded copy of your paid registration to the convention.
4. All members receiving the stipend are encouraged to volunteer for a
shift at one of the following Texas NFB sponsored convention
activities such as marshalling, working in the hospitality suite, or
at the NFB independence market.
5. Any person applying who has applied for and is awarded assistance
from another source such as TWC, your place of work, the Jernigan
Scholarship or one of the Texas Affiliate stipends cannot also receive
one of the chapter's $100 awards. The reason is we want as many people
to have assistance as possible from all sources.
6. If awarded a stipend, you will be asked to speak on your convention
experience for a few minutes at the August chapter meeting. Also,
though not required, members are encouraged to write a Newsline
article on their convention experience.
7. The award will be in the form of a $100 visa gift card given out at
a designated time in Houston at the start of the convention.
Please email the answers to the following three questions to apply an
your convention registration receipt to wenintex at gmail.com
(Please do not send your application as a reply to this email because
it goes to the chapter list serve and not to my email specifically)
1. Name of person applying
2. Have you attended an in person NFB national convention before?
3. What do you hope to get out of/your reason for attending the convention?
Those awarded the stipend from the chapter will be notified no later
than May 25th. Good luck and have a great convention!
Best regards,
