Obituary:
Laurie Ann Zertuche was born in San Antonio TX on October 28, 1959 to
parents Manuel and Cecilia Zertuche. Laurie entered into eternity on
May 13, 2023. She is survived by brothers, Robert Zertuche, Michael
(Jessica) Zertuche, sisters, Cindy (Nathan) Alonzo and Christina
Zertuche. Laurie was a loving aunt to numerous nephews, nieces,
great-nephews and great-nieces.

Laurie was a long time member of St. Matthews Catholic Church. She
worked at the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind for 38 years. She
enjoyed traveling and spending her Saturdays participating in the
Bowlerina's Bowling League.

Laurie was a remarkable woman who was born "visually impaired" yet she
saw more than any one of us. She saw the good in people, touched the
hearts of anyone who interacted with her. She had countless friends
from the homeless who knew her by name and looked out for her when she
walked from her condo to HEB up to public officials where she served
on committees advocating for the visually challenged.

She encountered many obstacles in her life, but with God as her
co-pilot, she saw challenges as opportunities to overcome, and that
she did. She cared for all people, regardless of race, color,
orientation, or political affiliations. She saw everyone as God's
people.

Last week, as she laid in her hospital bed unable to speak, we told
her how sorry we were that she was suffering. She scribbled on a piece
of paper, "don't be sorry, it is God's plan". We take comfort in
knowing she is rejoicing in a new body in Heaven, but she leaves a
huge void in our hearts. We will miss her, her daily texts and phone
calls. She was the
beacon of light in our family. Loving you forever our dear sweet
Laurie. We will miss you intensely, but know we will all be reunited
one day.
