Research announcement from Disability SA:

disABILITYsa (disability s a) is seeking the participation of people who are
blind or have low vision to join us in a research project being conducted
in partnership with UTSA to improve healthcare accessibility for people with
visual disabilities. People who are blind or have low vision face unique
challenges navigating healthcare facilities, especially when clear
wayfinding and accessible design are lacking.

disABILITYsa is conducting a brief survey and an in-person observational
research study to better understand these barriers and identify what helps
or hinders navigation in newly constructed healthcare environments across
San Antonio. Your insights are vital. By sharing your experiences, you'll
directly inform efforts to improve accessibility, influence future facility
design, and help create safer, more inclusive healthcare spaces for
everyone. Your voice matters-thank you for participating. Both
opportunities are described below and additional information is available
online at
https://www.disabilitysa.org/leadership-in-research.html#2024HCProject

OPPORTUNITY ONE: IN-PERSON STUDY - URGENT NEED

Participate in an in-person research study this coming Friday, May 9th from
9 AM to 3 PM. Participants will join our research team to visit local
healthcare facilities, share personal navigation experiences, help identify
what works and what needs improvement, and then take part in focus groups
over the next couple of months. Participants will meet at the disABILITYsa
offices at 9 am and visit 2-4 facilities over the course of the day,
returning to disABILITYsa at the conclusion. Those who are interested are
asked to learn more about the project and complete a jotform registration
online at
https://form.jotform.com/disABILITYsa/HealthcareAccessibilityResearch

OPPORTUNITY #TWO: SURVEY - DEADLINE 5/15/25

This survey is focused on identifying ways to make healthcare spaces more
accessible for people who are blind or have low vision. There are 24
questions in total. The survey can be accessed directly at
https://form.jotform.com/disABILITYsaSurveys/ImprovingHC-Survey.
