I am writing to you as a<br class="">member of the National Association of Blind Student’s Legislative and<br class="">Advocacy Committee and as the Chairperson of the Legislative and<br class="">Advocacy Committee of the Texas Association of Blind Students.<br class="">Washington Seminar is fast approaching and hundreds of members of the<br class="">National Federation of the Blind will be climbing Capitol Hill and<br class="">advocating for equality for all blind people. The purpose of this<br class="">email today is that the NABS Legislative and Advocacy Committee are<br class="">collecting letters regarding your stories of inaccessibility in your<br class="">academic fields. We are all working hard in effort to have Congress<br class="">pass the Accessible Instructional Materials in Higher Education Act<br class="">(HR 1772 / S 2138)<br class=""><br class="">The legislation will authorize the creation of voluntary guidelines to<br class="">help colleges and universities meet the needs of blind students and<br class="">students with other disabilities that make it difficult or impossible<br class="">to read print.<br class=""><br class="">We will be presenting your letters regarding inaccessibility to our<br class="">Congressional representatives during Washington Seminar. I would like<br class="">to encourage you all if you have not already done so to please write a<br class="">story and make your voice heard.
