This open house had already ended by the time it was posted and the link to the online survey is not accessible. Please check these things before posting.

Hello Jacob,

Progress on the design of NE 43rd Street at the pending U District Light Rail Station is being made and the City is committed to engaging with the community and understanding your needs in the NE 43rd Street project area. They are hosting a Public Open House and you are invited to attend:

<https://email.udistrictmobility.org/t/y-l-urudkdt-tyujjkiyjd-t/> Public Open House - Today (August 13th) from 4:30-6:30pm
 <https://email.udistrictmobility.org/t/y-l-urudkdt-tyujjkiyjd-i/> University Bookstore, 2nd Floor

The U District Mobility Group remains committed to a holistic, multi-modal station area mobility plan for the U District, so we are taking your feedback on an online survey and will post the results in a week. Please share your thoughts on the re-design of NE 43rd Street:

- Give the priority to pedestrians and bicycles

- Accommodate the high volume of pedestrians from the light rail station and create an attractive pedestrian environment with ample pedestrian space

- Accommodate limited bus traffic (in the short-term) and service vehicles on the street

- Create an attractive visual and spatial connection between the UW campus, the light rail station, and the community

- Provide for service vehicles and access to the University Bookstore parking lot

- Ensure the most flexibility possible for long term success

- Ideally, reroute buses to Brooklyn Avenue NE to facilitate movement and transfers to light rail station

U District Mobility Plan - Background

Last year our community came together to consider how access to our U District Light Rail Station can accommodate all users safely, efficiently, and equitably, regardless of ability or mode of travel.

We received over 2,400 responses regarding mobility in the U District from three public surveys, three public workshops, numerous small group and business owner meetings, several presentations to review boards and community groups, and a <https://email.udistrictmobility.org/t/y-l-urudkdt-tyujjkiyjd-n/> streetfair booth that encouraged participants to register their preferences.

The product was the <https://email.udistrictmobility.org/t/y-l-urudkdt-tyujjkiyjd-p/> U District Station Area Mobility Plan, released in September 2018, and we are now working on the implementation of this community-driven plan. We invite you to help guide the re-build of the core section of NE 43rd Street by participating in the online survey and public open house.

Please take a moment to complete the online survey with your preferences for how to re-build NE 43rd Street:

If you have questions or represent a group that would like to host a presentation about the plan, please reach out to <mailto:info at udistrictmobility.org> info at udistrictmobility.org.

Thank you.
