NAVIGATING THE MONLAKE BRIDGE CLOSURE

If you've passed down NE 45th St. over the past week, you've surely noticed an increase in vehicle traffic through the U District. This is because of the Montlake Bridge closure, which will last until September 3. An additional series of temporary weekend closures will take place this fall as well.

Below are links to resources we have compiled to help drivers and transit riders navigate the closure. The most convenient way to access the district, especially from the south, may be through the University of Washington Link light rail station.

A new tiny house village, dubbed Rosie's Village, broke ground this week at NE 45th and Roosevelt Way and will be opening later this fall. The village is a partnership between Sound Transit (the landowner), the City of Seattle, and the Low Income Housing Institute, who will build and operate it. The village will house 65 individuals in 36 houses, and will have hygiene and wrap around social services, and 24-hour staff on site. More information on the village can be found on District 4 Councilmember Alex Pedersen's <https://udistrictpartnership.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ec6ed68c26288a90ff0362fce&id=4d846ca586&e=6f91443f34> website and <https://udistrictpartnership.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=ec6ed68c26288a90ff0362fce&id=5468218de6&e=6f91443f34> this news article (paywall).
