Reminder to take a look at RARET's Adverse Weather Driver Training Resources:

While COVID-19 has been the talk of the town within emergency management, we're now in the time of year when emergency management for transportation is necessary less on a pandemic and more on a winter level. Make sure you, your services, and your drivers are prepared for this winter's snow and ice by checking out the Regional Alliance for Resilient and Equitable Transportation's <https://hopelink.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1f42b25fbcee8dda152a574f5&id=bc904ce431&e=b55111ee01> Adverse Weather Driver Training Resources webpage. It hosts a variety of helpful information and tools to get you thinking and ready for this winter season.
The emergency management conversation on both COVID and winter preparation is continuing, so reach out to RARET Coordinator Dean Sydnor at <mailto:dsydnor at hopelink.org> DSydnor at hopelink.org to get involved!

Access to Work and School Committee undergoes some changes for 2021, is now Roundtable:

The Access to Work and School Committee, a subgroup of the King County Mobility Coalition, will implement some changes beginning in 2021. The Committee will now be the Access to Work and School Roundtable! The group will continue its mission to improve access to education and employment through mobility for underserved populations in King County, but will do so with a more intentional focus on information sharing, learning, and networking. Meetings will now be held quarterly beginning in March. They will last for a maximum of two hours with time divided between relevant presentations and roundtable sharing. If your work engages with education and employment topics or you are interested in learning more about these areas, we invite you to join our next meeting on March 9th, 2021 at 1pm!
Read more on the adjustments in this <https://hopelink.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1f42b25fbcee8dda152a574f5&id=059f45b329&e=b55111ee01> 2021 changes one-pager. Hopelink Mobility Coalitions achieved lots in 2020:

"For transportation in King County, 2020 began with the contention over Initiative I-976 and vehicle tabs, saw drastic ridership changes due to COVID-19, forced transportation providers to reckon with codes of equity and enforcement, and ended with the recognition that we will continue to deal with the consequences of these variables in the future. Luckily, Hopelink’s Mobility Management team spent the year adapting to these changes..."

Flexible delivery funding extended until 2022:

The Federal Transit Administration and Washington Department of Transportation have extended funding for providing essential services like meal, prescription, and food delivery for another 12-months or until January 20th, 2022. This allows transportation providers to continue working with human service agencies, food banks, healthcare providers, and more to meet the needs of communities through flexible delivery options without having to request a change to their funding contract.

In early December, Governor Jay Inslee issued a COVID-19 public transportation safety guidance document. This guidance outlines safety requirements for those who receive direct funding from the state or federal government to deliver public transportation services. Notable elements of the guidance include a mandate that every public transportation agency must adopt a written plan for employee safety and customer interaction, maintain a minimum of six-foot separation between transit operators and passengers, provide PPE, and develop a COVID-19 monitor to enforce the COVID-19 safety plan. The plan provides more guidance, including additional safety recommendations and necessary state and federal regulation adherence.

The Seattle Department of Transportation still has $1,000 grants to award as part of their Emergency COVID-19 Response grants offered through the Safe Routes to School program. This funding is intended to encourage safer walking, rolling, and biking to and from schools and around the community -- during remote learning, this can look like supporting students in picking up school lunches, getting around their neighborhoods, and staying active. These grants can be awarded to nonprofits, Seattle schools, school-oriented community organizations, individuals, school staff, and PTAs as long as the project serves students.

Applications are still being accepted and awarded on a rolling basis. Find the application and project examples on <https://hopelink.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=1f42b25fbcee8dda152a574f5&id=01018b1c6a&e=b55111ee01> this SDOT blog post about the grants.
