> Subject: Call for People with Disabilities to Test New Tactile markings for Sound Transit
>
>
> Hi all. I hope this note finds you well. Sound Transit is testing new features to indicate the “Fare Paid Zone” in our stations. This involves introducing new overhead signage, visual and tactile markings on the floor, contrast colors to bring these features to the attention of passengers in our stations, and the placement of Orca card readers for easy access. In particular, we are interested in people with disabilities testing these features to give us feedback on usability. Specifically, we want people who are blind, have low vision, or who are deaf-blind to test the tactile markings and contrast coloring to determine if they can be easily seen and located. We are also interested in hearing from people using mobility devices regarding any issues rolling across the tactile markings. Your feedback will inform Sound Transit decisions about how best to move forward in establishing the new fare paid zones. If you are interested, please read the following information carefully and then respond to Jim Young regarding your availability to participate.
>
> CALL FOR INTERESTED PARTIES:
> As discussed in the February 2, 2021 CAAC meeting, Sound Transit is conducting a mockup of the proposed fare paid zone components and is looking for interested parties to come out, try out the elements, and comment. The fare paid zone consists of floor markings, signage, color distinctions, and orca card reader placement. Having a universal design for the LINK system will provide a better environment for the users and a consistent look and feel to the Fare Paid Zone. The Fare Paid Zone will be implemented later in 2021.

There are 18 slots available for participation.
>
> As we are only having this mockup for one day (Saturday), we regret if there are not enough spaces for all who are interested in participating or if you are unable to attend on that date. More information on the findings from the mockup can be provided as a presentation to the CAAC at a later date.
