My name is Gene, and I currently serve as Secretary of the National Association of Blind Students and have been involved with the NFB since 2019. I'm studying Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, and have a passion for accessibility research. This summer, I'm working with a research team at the University of Washington in order to investigate how machine embroidery can be leveraged to design tactile graphics. We are looking for blind braille readers (just grade 1 braille is okay) to participate in a research study to give us feedback about tactile graphics. Studies will last 75 minutes and be held in person at the University of Washington from Sunday, August 21 through Thursday, August 25.

We are looking for blind/low vision individuals with at least intermediate tactile graphics experience and grade 1 braille literacy who are at least 18 years of age who want to give us feedback about tactile graphics. This experiment will be conducted at the Bill and Melinda Gates Center for Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Washington Seattle over August 21 - 25. For your time, you will be compensated $40 per hour. Based on your need, we may also compensate expenses of up to $30 you may incur to travel to and from the study location.
