One year ago we formed a Coalition to bring attention, resources, and urgency to Aurora Avenue. In short time we have grown the coalition, talked with many community groups, held public forums, met with elected officials, been on the news and in featured media articles, and much more.

Today, Senate Transportation Committee Chair Marko Liias announced the long awaited $16 billion state transportation package. Just a week ago Sen. Liias and several other elected leaders joined the Aurora Reimagined Coalition on a guided walk of the Licton Springs section of Aurora. With support and facilitation from Senator Carlyle, we detailed for them  <https://got99problems.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=13f6566d436970a7550adb829&id=9798eccbea&e=966dd4e0a6> the challenges facing Aurora and the opportunities present in the Aurora-Licton Urban Village.

Now, we are proud to announce that Aurora is on the table. Since December we have been working with Senator Carlyle to put together a proposal for a demonstration project along Aurora. Today, our vision for Aurora is one step closer to reality: included in the Transportation Package is $50 million to improve pedestrian safety and access on North Aurora - the single biggest project on the bike and pedestrian project list.

The first hearing for the Transportation Package is tomorrow, Thursday, February 10.
You can let your elected representatives know that you support the Transportation Package - it only takes about 30 seconds.
*You can also submit testimony (written or via Zoom) - be sure to mention you support the $1.3 billion for active transportation projects.
