IN-PERSON Town Hall Announcement
Dear Neighbor,
I am excited to announce that I will be hosting my first IN-PERSON town hall on July 28th at 5:30 PM. I’ve been hearing from many D6 residents that they’d like to connect in-person to pose their questions or concerns, so this is your chance to do so and have your voice heard. It will be held outdoors at the Green Lake Park Amphitheater to best protect public health, and masks are encouraged. This town hall will happen rain or shine, so dress appropriately!

* What: Town Hall with Councilmember Dan Strauss. This will be a community-centered event, where attendees will be given the microphone and the chance to ask Councilmember Strauss a question directly.
* When: July 28th at 5:30 to 7:00.
* Where: Green Lake Park Amphitheater (on the Woodland Park side of the park, if you’re driving then park in the parking lot near the Aqua Theater.)
* Why: to connect with D6 residents in-person and give them the opportunity to pose questions about the issues they care about most.
We cannot get anywhere constructive without constructive dialogue.
I am keenly aware that there is substantial discontent with some of the problems of homelessness and public safety, as well as frustration with the impacts of growth and construction in our neighborhood these days. I live here too and am not insulated from the issues we face in District 6. As many of you know I was often dissatisfied with the former mayor’s response to certain issues and I am heartened by the swift work of Mayor Harrell leading by example to address the multitude of issues we face, together, as One Seattle.
In advance of the town hall, I want to encourage you to join us and I want to share some clear ground rules. Please show respect for each other by:
* Not interrupting people
* Not raising your voice (i.e., don’t yell at anyone)
* Using courtesy of saying please and thank you
* Waiting your turn to speak, and listening to what people say
These ground rules are here to help us have a constructive conversation and to make it clear in advance that if you cannot adhere to these basic good manners, you’ll be asked to leave the town hall. If you have any questions, you can email my District Director, <mailto:amy.enbysk at seattle.gov> Amy Enbysk.
I honestly don’t expect that this will be an issue. I know people have varying levels of disappointment with different civic issues these days, and I also have complete faith in our community to behave in a way that supports healthy civic engagement on those issues. Please prove me right!
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, if I or a member of my team test positive in the days prior to the event, the town hall will become virtual or canceled. By RSVPing you will be sure to receive updates ahead of the town hall for changes or modifications.

More about constituent meetings - every week I meet with D6 residents to hear about issues affecting you daily. I love talking directly to D6ers. It is often the best part of my week.
