chapter meeting.

Seattle Chapter Meeting Minutes

23APR22

Marci gave treasurer's report. Mike discussed payment methods for dues. Mike
M also discussed possibility of charging slightly more for payments through
electronic means as a way to offset charges from Pay Pal and or Venmo. Marci
suggested switching Pay Pal account to a Non Profit to avoid the charges.

Mike M led meeting. 

Topics included Fundraising and locations for future meetings. Jamal brought
up outdoor events for meetings. 

Marci Discussed National Convention in New Orleans stated there is still
room in the hotels. There is financial assistance available Following
Tuesday id deadline to apply. Discussed Chapter List Serve and recommended
people join. Announced Michael M as been appointed Permanent Director of
DSB. The State had taken Marci's recommendation and opened the position up
and Blind individuals did apply as well. Marci thinks Michael is a great
person to have in the position and meets with him quarterly. 

If someone is having issues with their VR need to contact either Marci or
Mike Mello and they can help. 

National convention everyone going needs to help at WA booth by selling
Chocolate and Cherries. Possible drawing for some tech as well. 

There will be on line option for those not able to attend in person on the
NFB website. Shared ways to save money before and during the convention.
Talked about Rookie Round Up for new members. Presidential Suite is no
longer an option. 

State Convention November 4-6 Bellevue Hilton Marci is looking for ideas to
"shake things up". 

Marci explained State Convention to newer members after being asked about
it. 

Mike discussed Seattle Public Transit "Ride Now" pilot program sign up to
receive 6 $20/month to use Lyft, Uber based on age and disability. 

Jacob talked about the New ORCA process and kiosks and how it will be easier
once they are all installed and ready. 

Lynn shared a traumatic experience she had recently on transit about being
accosted because she is Asian and Blind. Tom Huet is the new ADA Coordinator
for Transit Marci has contacts with him. Bus drivers might need more
de-escalation skills training 

Mike brought up outdoor activities like a walk or some kind of Summer
gathering. Jacob offered his place for a meeting space, some people liked
the idea others wanted a public space to meet. 

Fundraising Ideas: Mike asked everyone to think of something and get back to
him or discuss during next chapter meeting. Someone recommended working with
local breweries.
