Subject: [NFBSea] NFB Seattle Chapter Picnic Finalized Details!
As a way of celebrating having had a beautiful summer, the NFB of
Washington's Seattle Chapter invites everyone to our annual End Of Summer
picnic!
When: Saturday, September 9, 4 PM to 8 PM
Where: the rooftop deck at the home of Colin and Destiny Wong, 3261
Southwest Avalon Way, Seattle, 98126
Getting there: the RapidRide C, the #21 and the #50 all stop just around the
corner on 35th Ave. SW and SW Avalon Way.
Walking from the bus stop involves getting off the bus at 35th and Avalon,
turning right, walking to the corner of 35th and Avalon, turning right,
crossing 35th, and walking alongside Avalon for 4 driveways. There will be a
set of stairs and a ramp to indicate the apartment complex.
There's also space in front of the building for Access buses and rideshare
vehicles to pick up and drop off. We request that people arrive no earlier
than 4:00, as Colin and Destiny don't have the space available to them until
that time, except for the purpose of setting up. Access riders, please keep
this in mind when arranging your rides. Even if you get there sometime after
4:00, you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the picnic. We also should have
everything cleaned up and leave no later than 8:00.
What to expect: good food, fun games and good friends (old and new)
Who's invited: Chapter members, friends, family, newly blind people. All are
welcome!
The chapter will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie alternative, buns,
condiments and non-alcoholic beverages. We need all of you to bring side
dishes, chips and desserts. All food must be prepared prior to coming to the
picnic. Although there is some covered space all food should be able to sit
safely outside. Please keep this in mind if you were thinking about foods
containing eggs or mayonnaise products.
Finally, we need some volunteers to help with grilling throughout the
picnic. Colin and Destiny will do some grilling, but as the hosts, they need
help so that they can focus on actually hosting! Anyone interested, please
call or email Colin.
Thanks to Jim Peterson and Noel Nightingale, we will also be having a keg at
the picnic. For $5, you can get a cup and have access to the keg.
Finally, in order to make sure we have enough food, we need a good estimate
of how many people will be in attendance. Of course, we will expect a few
extra people, but it would be helpful to let Colin know that you are
attending and if you are bringing someone. Colin would like to have this
information by September 1st. If something comes up and you are unable to
make it, no problem. At least we can have a good idea.
We are so grateful to Colin and Destiny for hosting our picnic. Their
rooftop deck will be a fun place to gather! There's space for 50 people,
outdoor and covered seating, bathrooms and two grills.
See you on September 9th, for our best picnic yet!
