[NFBSea] Affiliate meeting for elections this Saturday, 11/4 10:00 AM

We will hold our elections this Saturday for two NFB of Washington board positions. The NFB board will hold its November meeting immediately following thee elections. Below is the information from my previous email as well as the Zoom information.

>> All National Federation of the Blind of Washington members are invited to attend a special statewide Zoom meeting on November 4 at 10 AM.
>> 
>> Purpose: The election of 2 members of our state board of directors. In the past these elections would be held at our state convention in the fall but since we are not holding another state convention until March 2024, our constitution mandates that we elect these two positions in odd numbered years.
>> 
>> When: November 4 from 10 AM to 11 AM
>> 
Where:  Zoom (information below)
>> 
>> Who: All dues paying members of the National Federation of the Blind of Washington will be eligible to vote in these elections. Chapter membership lists will be used to verify eligibility for voting. We will use the raised hand feature on zoom to count votes. A credentials committee will be formed to count and verify that only dues paying members have voted. Be sure to check with your chapter that your dues are paid.

>> Which board positions are up for election this year? 
>> Position 1, currently held by Amandeep Kaur
>> Amandeep is seeking reelection.
>> Position 2, vacant. Deja Powell served on our board until she moved out of state earlier this year.
>> 
>> A nominating committee will be appointed to recommend 2 people for these board positions. We will first vote to except the report of the nominating committee. This will place in nomination the 2 names recommended by the committee. We will then take nominations from the floor. If more than one person runs for a seat on the board each person will be given an opportunity to speak briefly. We will then go to the raise hand voting process and elect our two board members. If only one person is nominated for a position we will follow the usual procedures and elect them by acclamation.

>> We want as many members as possible to attend this meeting to elect these 2 board members. Please spread the word to other members who may not be on one of our listservs.
