Chapter Meeting

Meeting Minutes for Last Month:
minutes have been approved and accepted.
The treasurer’s Report will be voted on once Collin gets here. He is not 
here yet.
Kristin Vice President: On OUR June social Gathering.
Kristin is seeking opinions on what day the social gathering takes 
place. She is thinking on the 9th, but jacob can’t do it. jacob is 
suggesting to do it on the 8th, after the June meeting.
All present in agreement for the 8th after the chapter meeting.
another potential Gathering: Ballard Seafood Festival
Also, our Vice President is thinking about doing another activity our 
chapter to consider, but originally shall thought it will be August, but 
Jim, Noelle Nightengail’s husband, googled this event and it is July, 
right after Convention! So nope. Now, Kristin is considering doing@ fun 
activity the Ballard area. Around August. So, please keep an eye on it.
the Guest Speaker: Anna Zivarts
Our guest speaker is talking about and addressed the following topics
•
bus system in Puget Sound *access on transit become a nondriver and 
participate in the week without driving movement
• Her new book
* New campaignes Legistlation advocacy funding for sidewalks and broken 
sidewalks in Seattle

Bike lanes

inaccessible sidewalks

testimonies from NFBW Members bikes and scuters llocking our pathways as 
cane users

She also talked about the 2017 landmark case about wheelchair users and 
curb cuts. So now, it sounds like there was a consent decree, which 
sidewalks users cannot sue for sidewalk maintenance.
King County Metro is expanding their programs. Right now is a pilot 
program where people who qualify for Access, can get something akin to 
an Uber and Lyft and will be subsidized through paratransit.
Anna is also giving away / donating a hat that says “Week Without 
Driving” which the Chapter will decide how to distribute.
Anna’s book is entitled, ”when Driving Is Not Enough, …"


Announcement from the President: scholarship Winner.
We announce that Collin Wong, our beloved treasurer, has just won a 
scholarship from the National NFB convention.
is exciting, because he has now won a scholarship winner twice, which 
makes him a Tenbroke Fellow.
the State and National Updates:
Kristin and Humberto are manning a table at the Seattle book talk, from 
Anna Zivarts, happening on Monday May 13.
Gearing up for NFB Convention on July 3 through 8.
Several members are attending the Convention.
NFB is going to also have a table at the Washington State school for the 
Blind trackmeet. Happening in Mid-May.
NFB Seattle chapter secured links for the Seattle Mariners fundraiser, 
in July or August. We have info about a couple games, please look out 
for more info.
The treasurer Report
Ending balance: $1007.55 as of meeting, but there will be some 
deductions for convention and other stuff. Treasurer’s Report has been 
aproved and accepted.
SEATTLE Chapter Picnic
Jamal was going to be here, but he is not. he was going to talk about is 
this event. it will take place on August 17. At 3pm. Time date and place 
have been aproved by the rest of the chapter.
The Committees
Kristin is leading the events committee
Marci wants to co-chair the membership and outreach committee
Jacob is spearheading the Transportation committee
Cynthia Coffin came from Colorado and just joined our Chapter And paid dues.
Announcements from Linn
May23rd in the evening WTBBL is having an art display.
Second, do not forget to check your voting status.
Voting Update from Marci
You call to get a machine come to you. can get a ballot emailed to you. 
you can print the ballots here in Washington but California is suing to 
get equal access and we are watching the suit very carefully here in WA. 
So is exciting.
Other Stuff,
We may have Pi In The face game at the Picnic! will be used as 
fundraiser! whoever got the most money got thrown a paper plate with 
whip cream! it has been done in the past but it might be done again.
