Fun opportunity if you’re near the Pinehurst Neighborhood in Seattle, and a
testimony to all the hard work Cecelia and DMI advocates did to get
sidewalks included in Seattle’s transportation levy!
Hi Anna and Cecelia,
I am the outreach lead for the new sidewalks and walkways that are a part
of the Seattle Transportation Levy which the voters passed last November.
We have titled this project “Building Sidewalk and Walkway Connections.”
Thank you for all your good work to help us prioritize this in the levy!
I’m excited to share that we have our first targeted neighborhood event
this coming Saturday, January 25th in the Pinehurst neighborhood. This
neighborhood was chosen due to the relatively large number of missing
walkways near places where people walk frequently, such as public schools,
parks, and frequent transit. We will be gathering at Hazel Wolfe K-8 School
at 9:00 the morning with nearby residents to walk several routes in the
area to hear their thoughts on where sidewalks and walkways are most
needed.
This will be the first of many neighborhood events this year to collect
local input that will feed into our final selection of 250 block faces
across the city to receive these pedestrian improvements. These blocks will
then move forward into design and construction within the next 4 years.
You can keep track of our progress on our website: Sidewalk Development
Program - Transportation | seattle.gov

Thank you again for your support of the levy and helping us bring
improvements like this to our city!
Best,
Christa
