Three new Link light rail stations are open, Metro has expanded bus service
across South King County, and work is moving forward on the new Renton
Transit Center and RapidRide I Line connecting Renton, Kent, and Auburn. These
regional changes have a direct impact on how people get around Kent and
connect to the rest of South King County.

I will be joined by Kent Mayor Dana Ralph, Metro General Manager Michelle
Allison, as well as representatives from Sound Transit and Kent Public
Works.

We’ll focus on Metro bus service in Kent, Link light rail connections, Kent
transportation projects, transit safety and reliability, and upcoming
investments that will affect the city. We also want to hear about your
experience getting around in Kent: What’s working? What isn’t? And what
would make it easier to get where you need to go?

Mayor Thomas McLeod is hosting a community open house with Sound Transit on
September 30 to talk about the future of transit in north Tukwila.

Earlier this year, Mayor McLeod and I co-sponsored legislation at the Sound
Transit Board that committed Sound Transit to moving the long-planned
Boeing Access Road Station through full design, while continuing to address
the significant funding challenge that remains before construction can
begin. The legislation also committed $10 million to explore additional
transit options in north Tukwila while work on the station continues.

The open house will provide an update on the station’s design and next
steps, as well as the additional transit connections being considered. If
you live, work, or travel through north Tukwila, please attend to
learn more and
share what would improve transit in your community.
