Seattle Office for Civil Rights Proposes Amendments to Chapter 40 Administrative Rules</h2>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"; color:#202020"> <br>
The Seattle Office for Civil Rights (SOCR) is proposing amendments to Chapter 40 Administrative Rules (Chapter 40). Chapter 40 provides guidance for enforcement of Seattle’s discrimination laws in employment, public places, housing, and contracting.<br>

<h4>Examples of amendments include:</h4>
<ul type="disc">
<li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Removes references to Office of Labor Standards;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Adds the Fair Chance Housing Ordinance, Seattle Municipal Code 14.09;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Adds confidentiality of the identity of minors;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Changes the statute of limitations, per Seattle City Council, Council Bill 119240;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Changes the damage amount for violations of the law;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Changes access to public records;</span></li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color:#202020; line-height:150%"><span style="font-family:"Helvetica","sans-serif"">Changes to acceptance of electronic signatures.</span></li></ul>
