Dear Marci,

thanks for this information. this is exciting news about using
ORCA with Android devices.

Do you by chance know when the same functionality and
availability will transition for those of us who use iOS devices.

I think this would be a great addition, given that so many of us
in the Blind community and / or NFB use iPhones.

Thank you!

Hello Sound Transit accessibility
stakeholders,

Starting today, June
24, ORCA on Google pay allows
cardholders to convert their plastic ORCA card into a
digital ORCA card in Google Wallet and pay for transit
using an Android or Wear OS device. With
ORCA on Google Pay, customers can use a wide range of
Android devices that they already carry with them, including
smartphones and Wear OS smartwatches. Individuals with an
Android device who are new to ORCA can purchase a virtual
ORCA card from their Google Wallet for the same cost as a
physical card ($3). Individual customers who currently have
a plastic ORCA card can convert it to a digital card at no
cost, including RRFP (Regional Reduced Fare Permit), LIFT,
Youth, and Adult cards.

If you got your card from your employer,
your school, another organization or a transit promotion,
you may not be able to convert your plastic card to Google
Wallet. These organizations will have the option to opt-in
to Google Wallet over time.

After you have converted a plastic ORCA
card to digital, the physical card will no longer work, and
you can dispose of it. All value and settings on the
physical card will move to the digital card, which will have
a new card serial number to mark the difference. Once added
to the Google Wallet, virtual ORCA cards will operate the
same as a physical ORCA card. Users can set up their phone
to allow taps to occur by just waking up their phone screen,
without needing to unlock the phone every time. If using a
WearOS device, it always needs to be unlocked to tap.
