Dear Ms Fowler,
Art Education for the Blind and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art are
working on making the museum's collection accessible to people with vision
loss. AEB is coming to San Francisco to conduct a focus group and train
museum docents and educators. We looking for consultants who are blind and
visually impaired to attend our events on the following dates:
* Thursday, March 25, 5:30 - 7:30 PM; Disability Awareness training
for all department of the museum. Art Education for the Blind will conduct
the training, we hope that you member will contribute to the discussion and
answer audience questions about dos and don't, sighted guide, giving
directions etc. THREE VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED.
* Friday, March 26, Morning, exact time to be confirmed; Focus Group
to discuss needs and interests of museum goers with vision loss; people can
come with a friend and a family member. The only qualifications necessary
for the focus group is interest in art, museum and contemporary culture.
EIGHT PARTICIPANTS NEEDED.
* Friday, march 26, 1-3 PM Verbal Description training for a large
group of docents. Volunteers will be asked to listen to museum staff
describing the works of art ad provide feedback and critique. THREE
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
* Saturday March 27, 10- 1 PM Verbal Description Training for a small
group of docents. Volunteers will be asked to listen to museum staff
describing the works of art and provide feedback and critique TWO PEOPLE
NEEDED.
All events will take place at the SFMOMA. The only essential qualification
needed in order to participate in either of these events is interest in the
arts and museums.
